Kids Run the Nation
About the Program
Developed by the Road Runners Club of America, Kids Run the Nation (KRTN) is a gender-inclusive turnkey running curriculum for K-6th grade children. The Junior League of the Great Lakes Bay Region has decided to help sponsor and support KRTN programs in our region, keeping in line with the League’s issue-based community impact focus area of physical fitness for children with a focus on healthy self-esteem and self image.
KRTN programs facilitated through the Junior League receive supplies, financial assistance, and insurance coverage. The curriculum, which is taught by volunteer coaches in 6 to 10 sessions, can be used as a before- or after-school program or in a community center or other organization that serves youth.
To learn more about how the Junior League can help you start a KRTN program or if you are interested in volunteering or coaching, please contact us using the form below.
Online Program 2021
The Junior League is hosting an online running club based on the KRTN curriculum for children in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Each week from April 5 to May 21, a new video lesson covering a running, fitness, or health topic will be released for children and their running buddy (an adult) to complete at home. To cap off the experience is a one-mile fun run that can be completed virtually or—if conditions allow—at a local drop-in event. If you would like to participate, please sign up here. The course will be conducted in a closed Facebook group and a signed liability waiver is required. Each child who participates may receive a t-shirt, water bottle, and medal at the fun run event.
